INTERVENTIONS

Here at Kelburn we offer the service of intervention. With decades of experience and the powerful interventionist who is on show Intervention Canada-Ian Rabb, you know you are getting the top leading-edge care for you and your loved ones.

INTERVENTION HAS A 90% SUCESS RATE FOR COMMITMENT TO TREATMENT

Interventions are MOST effective when led by an experienced, trained professional. Interventions are extremely focused and refrain from behaviors such as blame, manipulation, denial, and control. These behaviors can create chaos within the family unit and are completely removed with the guidance of the interventionist.

*Please remember, addiction treatment does not always need to be voluntary for it to work.

As you read this you already know that addiction takes a huge toll on everyone. It is important to get help before it is too late.  The addicts in our lives that we love and care about may start to do things that you will not even recognize anymore. Some questions to ask yourself are:

  • Do they have secretive behaviors?

  • Are they in financial trouble or asking you for money?

  • Have they become aggressive?

  • Have they stopped taking care of themselves or have become isolated?

  • Are they neglecting their responsibilities i.e., work, children

Let us go over the types of intervention models and then you can make an educated decision for what works for you and your family.

JOHNSON MODEL

This is the most common type of intervention. It is addict focused and interventionist/counsellor guided. This is where we gently confront the addict. This involves compassion and understanding and where treatment is encouraged. It is organized by the interventionists and treatment options are discussed.

Planning what will be said and followed through means that there are no surprises for the addict.

INVITATIONAL
MODEL

This is a family focused and non-confrontational. This is an interventionist led “workshop” of sorts. This encourages family education and recognizes the families' roles in the dynamics. Everyone partakes in the collaborative effort of getting their loved one to be treated.

FIELD MODEL

This is a combination of the above models. It is very much interventionist focused and led. It is ideal for complex cases. It is ideal for crisis response and brings the family systems together in a way that is quick and immediate. It brings everyone together and happens quite quickly.

ARISE MODEL

This stands for a Relational Intervention Sequence for Engagement. This is where we use the power of the family. We want to encourage the family and addict to interact. It is known in the intervention world that there are strengths in numbers and there are firm boundaries put in place by not helping the addict in a materialistic or financial way.

The aim and goal at Kelburn Recovery Canada is to ensure that the family and addict themselves live in long term recovery. We provide wrap around care, reinforcing the families' behavioral changes and create healthy lifestyles and new bonds between you and your loved one. Kelburn believes that having many forms of recovery capital are the steppingstones of success. We find that by finding a purpose in life, taking care of your health, and having an encouraging and supportive home and community balance, it increases the chances of long-term recovery immensely.
